Claude Monet and Camille Saint-Saens
December’s Fine Arts Mini Experience (FAME) was taught during the week of November 28- December 1 and featured the artist Claude Monet’s “Water Lilies”, and the composer Camille Saint-Saens’s “The Swan” .
This lesson features two artists who were contemporaries. Monet, one of the best loved French Impressionists, used the element of texture intensified by color and light, to paint his “Water Lilies “– only one of hundreds he created of this lovely flower. Students will follow up our lesson on Monet by creating art in an Impressionist style later in the month in art class.
Our composer, Saint –Saens, gave us musical impressions of animals through his delightful suite called “Carnival of the Animals”. Students will focus on the lyrical “Swan” section and participate in activities to emphasize the dynamics in music.
