The Color Wheel
Elective students learned the colors on the color wheel and used tempera paint to create all twelve colors (except for the three primary colors, of course) on their own. They learned about warm and cool colors, tints and shades, complementary colors, analogous colors, and neutral colors. When the students finished creating color wheels and tint and shade scales independently, they all got together, and created a large scale color wheel with paint and magazine collage. The end result was stunning.
Analogous Colors
Elective students chose five analogous colors from the color wheel, created a sort of radial puzzle, and filled in the colors from the center outward. The results, when all hung together, were very pleasing to the eye.
