Egyptian Self Portraits
On January 21st, all of the middle school students had a trip planned to see the King Tut Exhibit in San Francisco. To prepare for the Museum visit, we learned all about Egyptian Tomb paintings. The students learned about profile drawing, the clothing that an Egyptian might wear, the special stance in tomb paintings, and the hieroglyphic writing that might accompany such paintings. All of it was covered in gold, just like the treasures of King Tut's tomb!
To make the paintings more personal, students were asked to include objects that are special to them. The hieroglyphic writing along the side is a close approximation of their names.
