Chalk Pastel Planets in the Milky Way
This was a very fun, very MESSY project. First, the students were instructed to cut out their planets, and tape them to black paper. Then they got to splatter paint the white paint to create a starry sky. when the white planets were pulled off, it left a nice black planet shaped area for the kids to make their chalk pastel planets.
The kids were instructed to think about the colors of the planets, and the order they would be in. Finally, the placement of the sun was considered, and the planets were highlighted and shaded accordingly. The results were pretty impressive.
