Warm and Cool Landforms
The 2/3 team, as well as the 4th grade, is learning about different landforms this month, and so this lesson seemed like a perfect one for them. Building on a knowledge of warm and cool colors, the students were asked to put down rolling hills (such as the ones in Sunol) with a black oil pastel. Then they experimented with chalk pastels. If the sky was warm, the hills had to be cool. And if the sky was all cool colors, then the land needed to be all warm colors. The results were really gorgeous. And the kids were proud of their work.
