Jackson Pollock
In FAME this month, we learned about the abstract expressionist painter, Jackson Pollock. Before the FAME lesson, most of the kids saw Pollock's art as just plain splatter painting. But then they learned about the importance of Pollock in the world of modern art, and that "abstract" means something which is not realistic or recognizable. And "Expressionism" is a type of art which conveys the artist's feelings.
Whatever the style is called, the students were excited to go out and try their hand at painting like the modern artist.
