Jasper Johns Numbers
The first graders were shown various works of Jasper Johns. They were told about how the artist takes objects and symbols from every day life and makes art out of them. Using an undergrid, the students could choose landscape or portrait orientation. Then they were told to write in the numbers from 1-9. They used oil pastel, and got to experiment with the rich colors and the deep tones that oil pastels put down. The art work they made is really fun.
