Snowy Landscape made from Torn Paper Collage
Students learned all about perspective from this lesson. They learned about "atmospheric perspective" in the way that hills go from dark to light. They learned about The size of objects getting smaller as they go from foreground to middle ground to background, and finally, they learned what a collage was. When finished creating the snowy scene, students got to add the snow in the sky by using a splatter paint technique (messy and fun!) If there was time, we got to read "The Snowy Day" by Jack Ezra Keats. This author/illustrator also used collaged paper to create his art.
