FAME for March
March’s Fine Arts Mini Experience (FAME) was taught during the week of March 13th – 17th and featured the French artist Henri Rousseau’s “Jungle Scene with Setting Sun”, and the Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos’ music “Bachianos Braisileiras #1” (Bach in the fashion of Brazil)
This lesson focused on two self-taught artists and the importance of the rain forests that inspired them. The technique of primitive painting was discussed and several more of Rousseau’s art works were studied by the class. Villa- Lobos’s musical compositions contain several South American based instruments and sounds, and the class got a chance to listen to examples. Students learned how these artists used the elements of art and music to form compositions.
If time permitted, the class got to learn a little bit about our World’s amazing rainforests, and how we can protect them for future generations.
